Address for the Year of the Pig
Lunar New Year's Eve
Dear Readers, Authors, and Editors:
We say a fond farewell to the Year of the Dog and joyfully welcome the Year of the Pig. Life, like Chinese medicine, recalls the past of pungent, sweet, light, sour, astringent, bitter, and salty tastes. In the present, life can be cold, hot, warm, cool, and mild, but in the future, life will be ascending, descending, floating, sinking, and returning to the righteous path.
In the new year, let us come together and strengthen our heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, gallbladder, stomach, large intestine, small intestine, triple burner, bladder, brain, marrow, bones, vessels, and female womb; enhance our essence, spirit (configurative force), vital energy, blood, clear and thin body fluid, and thick body fluid; activate our skin, flesh, veins, tendons, bones, limbs, hundred skeletons, five senses, and nine orifices; unblock our twelve regular meridians, twelve branches departed from the regular meridians, eight extra channels, twelve musculature of meridians, twelve skin regions, sixteen collaterals, capillary collaterals, and floating collaterals; regulate our happiness, anger, worry, thought, sorrow, fear, and shock; and expel the pathogenic wind, cold, heat, wet, dry, fire, and epidemic noxious factors; avoid improper labor, leisure, drinking, diet, tobacco, and alcohol; and prevent harmful insects, beasts, swords, spears, firearms, traumatic injuries, drugs, and poison, as well as phlegm and fluid retention, blood stasis, which hurt the human body.
"The evils can invade the body when its vital energy is deficient." Therefore, "if the body resistance is strong enough, the evils cannot harm the human body". As long as we allow the body and spirit to unite, yin and yang in equilibrium, we will be able to reach our allotted natural span of the life.
I wish you a healthy New Year!
